At first when our received the homework for the CIP, I immediately thought of the Tampines Service Centre. It is the place for children to learn and play. It is almost alike to a typical childcare centre but it is a children's club. They needed volunteers to help them to watch over the children. Unfortunately, when I had arranged with the In-Charge(IC) for the Tampines Service Centre, we found out that we were supposed to go to a OLD FOLKS HOME.
The news was rather shocking. I had to arrange with them the dates again. However, we decided to cancel the arrangements with them. Although we could also go for more organisations, my group members could not make it on the same day. Later, we went to the web and find for organisations. We almost could not find any organisations that would accept us except Lions Home for the Elders. We tried to call them to arrange the dates with them through the phone call. We decided to go for it because it was located nearest to our home, Bedok. They assigned us to their Head Quarters(HQ) at Novena. We decided to accept offer and we went all the way to Novena.
Their IC is Jereen and we are suppose to check the qualities of the chopsticks that were supposed to be sold to the public for donations for the their elderly home.

We went there separately as some of us had CCA on that day. Some of us formed a group of 4 to go together. We took some time to go as we got lost on the way. We were quite lost. Hence we called the IC for some directions. Luckily, we managed to arrive on time. The rest of the members reach there all by themselves. In the end had 6 members doing together.We were sent to a room to check the chopsticks. We did not expect the chopsticks to be wrapped with cute and attractive wrapper.
We needed to check for cracks, chip off and white spots. If there are any, we need to put it aside for the adults to check again. We spent quite some time to check all of the chopsticks. Just as what Chee May had said, it is for the Ah Gong, Ah Ma Day that is happening all year round.
We had a great time there to check the chopsticks after 6 hours even though it is tiring, we had fun checking it together. We could not go and visit the Old Folks due to some problems. They need around 20 people in a group in order to visit the elders. The IC kept emphasising that the Lions Home is not a Old Folks Home, it is a Nursing Home.

After the SIX HOURS of Fun, Laughter and Joy, we truly understand each other better and we look forward to doing more work and projects together. There is also a FLAG DAY on the 30th August 2008 organised by Lions Home. They hope to see more volunteers to help them on the Flag Day as they have a short of helpers.
