Reflections after visiting the nursing home

Hello,i am sorry that i did not post my reflections on Monday as
although Monday i was supposed to go for the c.i.p but however,
it was cancelled as the person-in-charge was not around. Therefore
i could only go for the c.i.p today and post my thoughts and reflections now.

All right, actually today our group that consists of Seow Tong,Lian Na,
Wei Xiong and me decided to meet at the novena station and take a bus to
the Lions Home For Elders. It is located at Tao Payoh Rise. But some of them had ccas and we may have to go separate ways.At there my first impression of the nursing home is:the place is big, have many floors and the environment is clean. It is very peaceful. Then,we went to the fifth storey and was briefed by the person-in-charge,Miss Jereen.During the briefing
she told us that we were supposed to conduct a quality check on the chopsticks
which are to be sell to the public for the "Ah gong,Ah ma day" which means grandparents day in English.I think that the chopsticks are very unique and
special as the chopsticks have a design which is like there are 6 pair of
chopsticks in a set on different generations.I found that it is very meaningful
to buy that as a gift.It will remind the different generations that they should
take good care of their grandparents, parents and their siblings and cherish the times with each other. Also each pair of the chopsticks there will be some wishing words on the chopsticks such as staying healthy and being successful.Miss Jereen
told us that the selling of the chopsticks are a on going programme which means
that they will keep on selling the chopsticks so that they can raise funds for the elderly.

Hence, after Miss Jereen briefing,we started our work on the
quality check on the chopsticks. We were told that the chopsticks should
not have much chipped or white spots or else they will be consider as
spoilt and could not be sell anymore. Also we must check carefully on the
chopsticks if it have any cracks or some dents. We were reminded not
to make much noise as we are in the nursing home and the elderly are resting
thus we must behave ourselves. We spent quite a long time checking the chopsticks,
but not to worry,i had my fellow classmates accompanied me,and as we checked
the chopsticks,we chatted and had fun! Also there were volunteers from
other schools and we checked the chopsticks together in a meeting room that is
sound proof.

The person-in-charge was also kind to us as we were allowed to take breaks
if we want. Also we get to try on the food for lunch that is cooked for the elderly
such as mee goreng, bee hoon and many more which are delicious!
After several hours of checking and packing,Miss Jereen advised
us to leave as she did not want us to go home too late. However, there was a
debrief by Miss Jereen regarding our performance on the c.i.p.She was overall satisfied with our performance and of course we were happy! We took some
photographs as a memento.Miss Jereen also would like us to come back again
to help her. Thus after today c.i.p I felt that it is important to treasure
the people around you.Lastly,i hope that many people would come and give
their support by buying the chopsticks as a gift so that the elderly would receive
more funds to get better facilities and healthcare treatment. Also i wish them an early Happy Grandparents Day!
